Denmark Travel Guide
The long peninsula of Jutland makes up more than half of Denmark, and like everywhere else in the country, you are never far from the sea. Its relaxing scenery of beaches, sand dunes, old towns, and fishing villages has been an inspiration to many artists. Quiet roads making cylcing through the gently undulatin countryside a real joy, passing picturesque old castles and manor houses on the way. A more up-to-date attraction is the toy world of Legoland at Billund. In addition of the mainland, Denmark consists of about 500 islands. The largest of these is Zealand. The capital, Copenhagen, is here - a lively city and port with historic buildings, museums, high-quality shops, nightlife and the famous Tivoli gardens entertainment park. For castle fans, in Northern Zealand there is 'Hamlet's Castle' at Helsingor and another magnificent example, Frederiksborg, at Hillerod. To the south-east of Copenhagen is the beautiful rocky island of Bornholm. This is a popular holiday destination and is well worth exploring on foot or by bicycle along the island's network or paths. Ronne, the main town, has an attractive medieval quarter, and can be reached either by ferry or by air
